Cloudburst, by Miriam Kainy, is the story of Zibale and Mitzi Schtein who immigrated to Israel after the war. Fifty years later, they must confront the lingering effects of their traumas and losses. Into their life enters an unknown young woman - Anat Levi, who claims to be a reporter trying to write an article about their deceased daughter, Rika Eben, a world famous pianist who died 25 years earlier under mysterious circumstances. The young woman turns out to be more than just a reporter and her investigation into her own past unveils personal and universal truths which Zibale and Mitzi have tried to repress while rebuilding their lives after the Holocaust.
The Eretz Reading Series is made possible by the Consulate General of Israel in NY to perform staged readings of Israeli plays adapted and performed by American and Israeli directors and actors.
